eegThe faculty of social and behavioral sciences (FSW) hosts four electroencephalogram (EEG) laboratories and several mobile and immobile facilities for physiological measurements (e.g., heart rate, respiration, galvanic skin conductance, eye tracking).

The EEG labs are equipped with Biosemi ActiveTwo DC amplifiers, featuring local amplification of physiological signals directly over the source, and an unfiltered throughput of physiological signals for 24-bit digitization at a maximum of 2048 samples/sec. Two 40 channel, a 74 channel, and a 136 channel system are available for EEG recordings. Electrode caps for 32, 64 or 128 positions can be used, as well as 8-10 separate electrodes. For each system there is a separate test room, in which subjects can be seated in an adjustable chair with a 4-button response box mounted at the end of each armrest. Alternatively, responses can be recorded with a microphone (both audio and discrete voicekey recording), two pedals or other discrete response devices. Combinations between EEG recording, Tobii eye tracker recording and BioPac recording of peripheral physiological measures are possible as well. In each test room, there is a PC for recording EEG time series, and a PC for stimulus presentation and behavioral response logging. stimulus presentation PC controls two identical 19 inch 100 Hz CRT monitors or LCD monitors. Auditory stimulus presentation is possible with a stereo air pulse headphone system or mini speakers. Stimulus presentation is controlled by E-prime 2 experimenter software, while monitoring of EEG data acquisition is done with LabView data acquisition software. Stimulus presentation time and behavioral responses are recorded along with EEG. Off-line analysis of EEG data is carried out with Brain Vision Analyzer or BESA software.

Additionally, several labs are available for peripheral psychophysiological recordings, such as ECG, EMG, blood pressure, respiration, and galvanic skin conductance, using Biopack, Portapress continuous blood pressure and Polar heart rate equipment, and VSRRP98.
